A notice to mariners detailing work to be carried out in Bluemull Sound by Nova Innovation up to end November 2017
ReadNova Innovation decommissioning consultation
Nova Innovation is in the process of constructing an array of five tidal energy devices in Bluemull Sound. The first two devices in the array have successfully been deployed and a further three devices will be deployed over the next two years. The array is scheduled for decommissioning in 2027. This will involve the complete removal of all offshore components from the seabed, including all five turbines and power export cables. A consultation for the decommissioning is in progress with input welcomed from all interested parties by 17 February 2017.

A new consultation has been launched to look at designating 4 new SPAs. These 4 areas are - the Outer Firth of Forth and St Andrews Bay Complex, the Pentland Firth, the Seas off Foula and the Seas of St Kilda. The consultation finishes on 17 January 2017.
